The issue of rebuilding of Ukraine was discussed at the international conference „Europe – Poland – Ukraine. Rebuild Together ’23“, which took place on 20 July in Warsaw.
During the conference, the participants analysed the current situation in Ukraine and discussed the dynamics of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation both at the state level and at the level of business contacts.
One of the panels of the event was devoted to labour migration in the Polish and Ukrainian labour markets, namely their role and impact on the economies of both countries in the near future. The speaker of the panel was Yaroslav Romanchuk, Managing Partner of EUCON Legal Group, President of the Association of Ukrainian Business in Poland. In his speech, the speaker noted that according to statistics, about 7-8 million Ukrainians are currently living abroad. As for Poland, not only refugees live here, but also investors and students, 50,000 of whom come to the country every year. These are people with higher education and high qualifications, they are directly involved in the development of the Polish economy. Therefore, after the war ends, Ukraine may face a human capital problem, it will need to motivate people to return home, and help people who have been at the front to socialise. „And we need to work on this issue now,“ Yaroslav emphasised.
In conclusion, Yaroslav Romanchuk added: „With regard to further cooperation between Ukraine and Poland, the question of the Ukrainian government’s incentives for investors to get involved in Ukraine’s reconstruction remains open. In turn, Poland should decide what experience it can share with Ukraine in the post-war period.“.
The organizers of the conference are Warsaw Enterprise Institute and Związek Przedsiębiorców i Pracodawców.
