International Legal Center «EUCON» and International Audit Union held a seminar for accountants working in polish companies on “Accounting departments as the last outpost to protect businesses from the abuse of power of the tax authorities.”
On May 28 , under the auspices of the trade mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the International Association of Polish Entrepreneurs in Ukraine and the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, specialists in tax law held a free seminar on the role of accounting departments in protecting the business during tax inspections.
The event was attended by over 50 representatives of the accounting departments operating at polish companies, which had the opportunity to gain valuable and practical experience from attorneys and auditors.
Organizers of the event were a Chairman of the Board of International Association of Polish Entrepreneurs in Ukraine Mr. Ireneusz Derek, Head of the Trade & Investment Section of the Polish Embassy Ms. Malgorzata Gawin and Vice President of Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Oleg Dubish, who made opening remarks. Mr. Yaroslav Romanchuk (attorney, ILC «EUCON») and Larysa Vrublevska (auditor, the International Audit Union) opened up a discussion, provided an overview to participants with the latest changes in tax legislation of Ukraine and presented all speakers.
Experts in the field of taxation shared their experiences and best practices with the audience during the seminar, describing the features of “VAT audits” (auditor Oksana Puzko), methodology for the preparing documents for CPT and personal income tax audit (tax consultant Anna Shavlyuk). Lawyers of the International Legal Center «EUCON» emphasized on protection strategy during the audit as a plan of actions be guided by officials (lawyer Oleksandr Melnyk), the issue concerning providing documents and appeal of audit results (attorney Volodymyr Bevza), regarding responses to the specific request / requirements of the tax authorities (attorney Vitaly Tymchuk) and offered advices on how to prevent and minimize the situations when a tax dispute becomes a criminal offense (lawyer, head of the litigation department Eugene Petrenko), and audience are made aware with the impact of decisions of such international instances as G20 and OECD on Ukrainian business concerning implementation of new audits with international element (lawyer Andrew Romanchuk).
