Special opportunities for doing business in Poland, in particular entitlement to residence through investments and acquisition of real estate, are gaining increasing interest among domestic entrepreneurs. Managing partner of the International Legal Center EUCON Yaroslav Romanchuk was invited by the organizers of the international exhibition and conference on foreign residential property for vendees from Ukraine International Apartments & Houses Show, held on February 11, 2016 in Hilton Kyiv Hotel, to discuss these issues.
In his speech, Yaroslav Romanchuk focused not only on theoretical but also practical aspects of investment and real estate operations in Poland as a basis for obtaining a residence permit. He also mentioned advantages and disadvantages for each type of real estate rights (ownership, life interest and rent). It should be noted that the Polish legislation contains special requirements to foreigners willing to purchase real estate in Poland. In this sense, the status of “foreigner” includes not only individuals who do not have Polish citizenship and foreign companies, but also Polish companies controlled by foreigners. Yaroslav Romanchuk also spoke about the real estate acquisition tax and mechanisms for protection of property rights and investments in Poland.
Participants of the conference also learned about practical aspects of these procedures and risks to keep in mind when purchasing real estate in Poland.
