On November 8, the Food Conference “Made in Ukraine: Formation of the Food Market in Europe” by the Ukrainian European Business Hub BBN took place in Warsaw, within which the managing partner of EUCON, the chairman of the Board of the Association of Ukrainian Business in Poland Yaroslav Romanchuk became the speaker, speaking on the topic “Business Relocation to Poland and practical aspects of access to EU finances and financial instruments”.

The food conference brought together representatives of medium and large businesses, in particular the business community of Poland, partner organizations and associations, members of the Best Business Network, investors, leaders of public opinion, to discuss the current situation in the food industry, create prerequisites for concluding export contracts and creating Ukrainian – Polish partnerships, promote the unification and support of entrepreneurial activities, as well as the development of a practical plan of action and development prospects, analyze the opinions and ideas of the business community, provide informational support, practical information and ensure the exchange of valuable experience.
Yaroslav Romanchuk began his speech by analyzing the advantages of the Polish market for business relocation: according to the speaker, the main factors that make Poland attractive for entrepreneurs are its geographical and strategic location in Central Europe in close proximity to major European economic centers, access to European transport corridors , a large labor market (in particular, Poland has the highest percentage of human resources in Europe), mental proximity, the presence of favorable conditions for investment and a developed business environment.
According to the expert, the Polish market is attractive for foreign investors due to the presence of special economic zones, industrial and technological parks, state grants, EU structural programs for Poland, access to financial markets through the Warsaw Stock Exchange and New Connect, state export crediting (KUKE, BGK), cheap bank loans, certain additional benefits.
Mr. Yaroslav drew the attention of the participants to the possibility of using financial instruments in Poland in the context of the planned EU allocation of 160 billion euros during 2021-2027, of which 125 billion will be allocated for additional financing, and 35 billion. – for loans.
The speaker reviewed in detail the terms and content of the Regional Assistance Package in Poland as a tool for supporting new investors. The advantages of cooperation with Polish development institutions were also considered, in particular with ARP (investment and restructuring), PAIH (trade and investment), BGK (banking), KUKE (insurance), PARP (entrepreneurship), which offer several programs and financial instruments for relocation, support, and business development.
Yaroslav Romanchuk analyzed the types of fundraising (FFF, Business Angel, VC Funds, Crowdfunding, Mezzanine Funds, Private Equity Funds, IPO), detailed the stages, methods (registration of a new company, representation, redomicilation), costs, consequences, advantages and disadvantages relocation of business from Ukraine to Poland (through the prism of each of the methods), focused on each of the types of legal forms of doing business in Poland, in particular on their advantages and disadvantages.
In addition, the expert listed the main tax rates in Poland, outlined the realities of the tax payment process by legal entities in Poland (in the context of the type of legal form of doing business), talked about the functioning of the Convention on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and its features, in particular, the features of tax payment in the context residency, declaration of income received abroad.
Mr. Yaroslav did not miss the issue of taxation through the prism of the implemented BEPS plan and its consequences. Important in this context is the clause regarding the categories of taxpayers in Poland, as well as the start of operation of the CRS system in Ukraine and the extension of the tax amnesty period.
The speaker talked about the activities of the Ukrainian Business Hub in Warsaw and the range of services and opportunities that the hub provides to Ukrainian entrepreneurs.
