On 15 November 2023. Yaroslav Romanchuk, attorney-at-law, managing partner of EUCON Legal Group, took part as a speaker at the 11th Annual Forum of Legal Advisors organised by the newspaper „Yurydychna Praktyka” (Юридична практика).
Yaroslav spoke during a session dedicated to the challenges of war time. In his speech, he talked about the development of business relations with Poland, namely the challenges and opportunities for relocated Ukrainian companies and employees, and also touched on the situation concerning the blocking of the border by Polish carriers.
“The situation at the border is critical. Consultations are being held, but there is no solution at the moment, – commented Romanchuk, – at the request of Ukrainian carriers, we are investigating the legal basis for blocking the border, we are analysing the statements of people who are blocking the border, as well as statements and decisions of local authorities. The second aspect that the attorneys are clarifying is compensation for damages, in particular on the basis of the Ukrainian-Polish investment protection agreement.”
Regarding business relocation to Poland, Mr. Romanchuk noted that the portfolio of EUCON Legal Group already includes more than 350 projects. Among the main key relocation opportunities, he noted the following:
- being closer to their clients;
- diversifying risk;
- accessing financial resources;
- protecting assets in Ukraine.
According to Yaroslav, challenges for business include: mentality (the Ukrainian approach to running a business in Poland does not work), language, human resources, taxation (establishing tax residency) and banking (long and accurate financial monitoring).
