International Legal Center «EUCON» became a partner of the northern regional round of the tournament in classic legal debates.
This year, the Debate Club of the law faculty of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Students League of the Ukrainian Bar Association founded and conducted the first round of the most ambitious in the history of Ukraine All- Ukrainian tournament in classic legal debates on civil and land law in order to involve representatives of higher education institutions from all regions of the country. T ournament is a competition where a team of law students mock simplified trial on the basis of the plot to the conventional court.
131 participants (60 teams from 18 universities in Ukraine) were registered for the regional round of the tournament, a record figure for a similar national competition among law students.
The peculiarity of this tournament is that it consists of two rounds : r egional and final . The first one was held at the 4 universities in Ukraine namely: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – n orth region (6-7 December), Tauri da National V. I. Vernadsky University – southern r egion (November 30), Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – western r egion (December 7), National Law Academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise – eastern r egion (November 30) . T he second one , scheduled for spring 2014 at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where participants will be semi-finalist team s from each region, i . e the 16 best teams from all over Ukraine.
T he north regional round of the tournament was c onduct ed through the support and financial assistance of the partner of the tournament – International Legal Center «EUCON».
“The idea for such a big tournament emerged a long time ago : Debate Club has organized four similar tournament in the last two years, but limits of territorial resource s of the Debate Club did not allow to conduct regional rounds , aimed at attracting an increasing number of students and selection of the best teams from different regions of Ukraine. Therefore, we suggested to our friends from the Students League of U B A opportunities to combine and to do everything possible for such a big event on a regular basis” – said Natalia Kuz’menko , C hief O rganizer of the tournament and Vice Chairman of the Debate Club.
The winners of the regional round were Ivan Demtsiu and Maksym Balatsenko (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), Mykola Rudenko and Bogdan Rebr y sh (National Law Academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise), Anastasia Musatov a, Oksana T yk hovsk a (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv) and Karina Va k hrusheva , Dm y tr o Kovalenko , Anna Kotliarov a (Tauri da National V. I. Vernadsky University).
