Synergy for rebuilding: the conference “Europe – Poland – Ukraine. Let’s Rebuild Together” from ZPP

On October 5, one of the largest conferences was held in Warsaw, which became a platform for business dialogue in an international context and discussion of prospects for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine – “Europe – Poland – Ukraine. Let’s rebuild together”. The organizers of the event were Związek Przedsiębiorców i Pracodawców ZPP (Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers) and Warsaw Enterprise Institute. Yaroslav Romanchuk, chairman of the board of the Association of Ukrainian Business in Poland, managing partner of EUCON, became a speaker at the conference.

The purpose of the event is to form and strengthen relations between European, Polish, and Ukrainian businesses, as well as to establish cooperation for the future reconstruction of the Ukrainian state and economy. The participants of the conference were representatives of the governments, ministries, and parliaments of Poland and Ukraine, experts, and representatives of companies from industries interested in cooperation, such as energy, IT, transport, and logistics. During the event, the state and prospects of Ukraine’s economy and its impact on the global economy were discussed. Thematic panels presented the needs and expectations of the Ukrainian side, as well as the opportunities offered by Polish businesses within the framework of reconstruction.

Yaroslav Romanchuk had the opportunity to moderate the panel «City and region: reconstruction and development», the participants of which were also: Andriy Pavliv – head of the investment and projects office, Lviv City Council (online); Anatoly Fedoruk – mayor of Bucha; Roman Shepelyak – adviser on international issues to the Chairman of the Lviv OVA; Leszek Holombiecki – Chairman of the Board of UNIBEP; Artur Popko – chairman of the board of Budimex; Pyotr Jurczyk – Chairman of the Board of Intercor; Olga Romanenko – CEO of Ecopan.

The participants of the third panel, after analyzing the current data on the destruction of Ukrainian settlements, in particular the de-occupied territories and cities that suffered the most, infrastructure as a result of the blows inflicted by Russia, discussed possible concepts of the reconstruction of cities, ways of stimulating their development after the war, investment potential, methods of attracting foreign investments and financing programs, the establishment of international partnerships and support at the state, public and business levels for effective and operational reconstruction, etc. The Polish and Ukrainian sides expressed readiness for fruitful cooperation and pooling of efforts and resources to overcome the devastating consequences of the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.
